GPU Panic makes his long-awaited return with ‘Glimpse of Me’ & two incredible additional remixes of it, one coming from Anja Schneider, and a re-imagined version from Moullinex.
Fresh off the back of the recently lauded single release of 거울 (Mirror) with Korean artist lili coy - The fourth single taken from his upcoming EP to be released in Spring 2022, its remixes maintain his continued penchant for collaboration, opening the track to two vital re-workings. The Anja Schneider Remix arrives on February 18th and a Moullinex Reburn follows on April 15th.
Since emerging with his debut EP 'Sand Haze', GPU Panic, (moniker of Guilherme Tomé Ribeiro), has been prolific to say the least. Now as he prepares his next full-length release, he has emerged from the studio to present a gateway track to his new EP.
“It’s the first track that I’ve made as GPU Panic on the piano. Exploring the idea of two different things connected through their differences, creating a dependence on each other. That creates tension and that tension gives birth to a kind of passion with ‘blood rushing through our veins’” says GPU Panic, with this reflected in the song’s lyrics that continue with:
Is there any time or space / Where we both stay harrow / Trapped inside each other’s brain / Stuck with our own shadows, further reiterating the sentiment and it’s rhetorical nature making us delve deeper in to the track and in turn, ourselves and each other, as he (GPU Panic) goes on to explain:
“It’s also a play on what is seen and what is seen as the shadow when referring to each other”.
Once again Lourenço Providência has provided artwork reflecting that connectivity. As immersive and thought provoking as the cover art of previous singles – “The cubes are connected with black and yellow wires - their differences - stuck to each other and also reflecting what they are together. A reflection that isn’t perfect but that is also a glimpse of that connection. A glimpse of me.”
It's a track that is deeply affecting, with its slightly off kilter beats colliding with GPU Panic’s now renowned piercing vocal delivery, transforming the track into something altogether hypnotic with a restless spirit and introspective lyrics on an incredible track, one that is pivotal and will remain so for GPU Panic going forward for the foreseeable future.
GPU Panic is currently recording his upcoming EP at his studio headquarters in Lisbon, which will be revealed very soon. In the meantime, ‘Glimpse of Me’ along with tracks ‘Mirror’, ‘Flores’ and ‘Just Go’ will go on to form the core of his upcoming work. ‘Glimpse of Me’ just the latest to join the lush selection of recent output from GPU Panic that will continue to capture an ever-growing audience.
His increased exposure has only enhanced his growing reputation, one which GPU Panic has begun to cultivate on his own terms with high profile mentions for his previous work appearing in print as well as online on such sites as the influential Tsugi (France), with his live show attracting attention and receiving glowing reviews from sites including Deep House Amsterdam, and leading Mixmag to hail it as "an utterly bewitching live act".
Now with the addition of a weighty track like ‘Glimpse of Me’, the plaudits are set to continue, as GPU Panic’s star continues to ascend.
